As It Was: Tales from the State of Jefferson is a radio series co-produced by Jefferson Public Radio (JPR) and the Southern Oregon Historical Society (SOHS). Narrated by local actor Shirley Patton and written by SOHS contributors, each episode dynamically describes the forces and people that have shaped the State of Jefferson.

In 1998 the JPR Foundation published a book, written by Carol Barrett, that featured hundreds of the best As It Was scripts. The book was illustrated with photographs gathered by the author -- many of which came from private collections and were published for the first time. You can order a copy of the book at JPR's Online Store or by calling 1-800-782-6191.
